Starcki damsel questions

Those who have this fish can you tell me the differences between the ones from Java and from Australia? LA have some only from Java available now. Is the color difference enough that I should wait? Also, these will be going in an 8 ft x 3 ft tank (roughly 440 gallons). How many would you recommend for this size tank. Was thinking three would be a good number. Thanks for you help.

Australian have more pop color wise imo I have 2 in my 300 reef no issues my anthias actually will chase them friend of mine has 10 in a 360 no issues.

I have a pair in my 240 and they are great. No issues.

Google: "Chrysiptera starcki: A tail of two damselfish" for a description of regional variations in color.

Mine has darkened with age slightly but is a Australian. You can see from the tail where the blue colour doesn't bleed into the yellow to the same extent.

Not a great pic as the lights were heading down but they do have a very strong electric blue colouration. i bought it because i think Damsels are underated but equally love the resplendent angel, however seeing both in the flesh i'd much rather have a Starkii. The only thing it has a problem with was my yellow wrasse, who lives in my other system now. Really peaceful for a damsel but i haven't tried more than one.

I just had one delivered from LA last Saturday, and it's an awesome fish. One of my favorites.

Heres mine from when I first got it. Its yellow his been becoming more vibrant as it grows. Collected from Vonuatu.
