Starfish fire

This was cool. After I moved some rocks around in the tank a bunch of the little brittle stars came out to the high points and did this.

I'm guessing reproduction?

Wow - that's pretty interesting. So it was the brittle stars doing it?

Yes. The small brittle stars probably 10 or more of them in all different areas of the tank. But only at this one time have I been able to capture it on video. I saw it happen 1 time before but I dont remember the situation when it happened.

Just happened to me. Did a water change and cleaning and the stars went crazy! Wow. Any adverse affects of this behavior?

Nothing I can see. I am thinking reproduction? Its just strange that its when you disturb the rocks...
