Starfish

Yep, thats what is was only all white or bone color, and the entire thing was the size of a dime. I have only seen it 1 time so not sure how long it has been in there. At least it's a good hitchhiker.

Mini brittle stars is what I've seen em called. Like saltyj said there generally cleaners detritus eaters and extra food leftovers, people usually want them. I have tons. Never get bigger than what u see there.

Little ones like that probably came with the LR. Don't expect it to get much bigger. Between my reef tank, anemone tank, refugium and frag tank, I must have 6 or 7 serpent and/or brittle stars. I love them, good clean up crew members.

My CUC will be next purchase for my 75g. I did see from one of the sponsors that they offer kits. Have any suggestions for a LPS tank.

yep mini brittles. you usually don't see more than their little legs sticking out of the rock. They rarely come out.

When do the eat

When do the eat

I have one of these starfish living in my live rock. The only thing I see is about 3-4 legs sticking out. It never moves so what is it eating and why wouldn't it want to move from the 1 location in the live rock?

It catches food from the current with its legs & eats it. I spot feed my black & white ones in the DT and now I have lots (started with 3) LOL. I have smaller all white ones in the fuge that I don't spot feed & I still have lots (started with 2 or 3).

My big serpent stars let me know when they are hungry. I feed the tank most every morning. Maybe 1 out of 5 mornings the a serpent will come out from under the rocks looking for food. I put a meaty piece of shrimp or silver sides on a pointy BBQ skewer and the serpent wraps an arm or 2 around it, pulls it off and goes back under the rocks. It's great fun to watch and to have a relationship with a sea star.
