starfish

Last night i switched my 55 gal over to my new 125 gal.This morning found two small starfish on the bottom glass.Have not put in my sand yet.Is this possible,because i've never had starfish in my tank.Had my 55 gal up for about 9 months.

I think you have always had starfish in your 55 gallon and just didn't know about them

I have found stuff in my tank that had presumably been there years unknown to me, including a sizable serpent star living under one of my rocks on the bottom, he had probably been there at least 2 or 3 years before I discovered him. he never comes out from under his rock, but I see his arms poking out from under the rock all the time now.

It also took me about 3 years to first spot the cause of my snail deaths too, was always plagued with finding empty snail shells, then one day spotted a flat worm about 2 square inches cruising the sand bed (it hated light), after getting an ID I was finally able to solve the snail murder mystery

If i can't find them when i add my sand will it kill them.Hate to kill the little guys?

can you use your old sand in ur new tank???

Yes i saved the old sand and rinsed it with some of the water isaved also.It looks good.I have been saving my water changesfor when i was ready for the move.Checked params everything looks good so far.
