Started Interceptor Treatment

Love The Fish
Well I finally got around to starting the treatment for red bugs. So far everything has gone as planned. Sure enough the crabs and shrimp I couldn't catch are goners. Luckily I only had a couple but will miss my blue poceline crab. Im about to do my follow up water change and will be doing 2 more treatments 7 days apart. If anyone has a filter sock that catches a lot of pods that they would like to donate or sell, please let me know. I really dont want to starve my mandarin. Well, just wanted to share and I will keep this updated along the way.:)

update. Hermits are gone but the porcelain crab I thought was dead seems to be ok so far. I guess we'll see.

Arthropods, thats why its effective on mange in dogs. So its pretty harmful for most shrimp, crabs and copepods. From what I've read its select Arthropods though, so I guess some aren't effected by it. Which ones? I haven't a clue.

All seems good today. Yesterday, I did a 25 gallon water change after a 6 hour treatment and now I'm running lots of carbon. Red bugs appear to be wiped out but I will still do 3 treatments 7 days apart. I really cant wait to see how the corals respond to being pest free.

Sounds like things are going well.

Red bugs are a pain, but I'd take them over AEFW every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Biggest problem is people know they have them and don't warn at Auctions and trades. It went thru Phoenix like a wild fire years ago. I went to a few FRAG auctions and got some nice stuff, no problems. Then a few bugs got in pipeline and almost everybody was getting infected. I went to one store and saw Red Bugs on all the Acros, brought it to the main guys attention. He said they were not red bugs but would gladly put Intercepter in the bag for me if I bought the Acro, lol. There was one Frag Auction localy that a friend won the bid on some Zoos, took the container, looked at them to see a Zoo Nudi floating around. Then there was Majestic and their Flatworms that "Don't hurt anything"

I am still pest free, but am very picky what I buy or take in trade and who I buy or trade with. Don't just look at what you want to buy, look at everything on that system. Don't deal with an LFS that feeds you a line of BS, "I clean my corals everyday". Think about it, why do you have to clean them everyday, wouldn't that be stressful? Next thing you know they will be telling you they frag clams too.

I remember that one. :rolleye1:

Yeah, no trades until my treatment is done and even then I will make it clear that I had them until far into the future when I can be certain. Qt is now setup for everything that goes in my tank. Im not gonna go through AEFW or any other type of nudi at least not with out a fight. Last year I had a battle with ich and set up a fish QT. I haven't lost one fish since the setup and all the fish seem to be much healthier. The year before that Aiptasia completely over ran my tank. Live and learn I guess. Whatever doesn't crash your tank makes you a better reefer.

Pocelin shrimp still alive. Last treatment will be carried out in 14 days. I haven't seen any bugs and all but one coral have recovered nicely. The one that looks bad was the one that had the worst infestation.

This whole process if finally over. Now I just have to figure out how I want to repopulate my pods. SPS PE is better than ever and Im finally getting some new growth.
