Starting a Frag Tank

So I was thinking about starting a frag tank...
I have an extra 20 gal tank, MH light and power head and heater, etc...

just was thinking if it needed a protein skimmer or a refugium would be needed for it as well?

any thoughts or concerns for me?

Imo you don't need a skimmer or refugium unless adding fish to it or plan to keep corals that benefit from frequent feedings.

i know not everyone can do this, but i tapped into my sump and that has worked out really good
