So Dano, how are you liking the Bubble Master by now? still skimming

It is working great. I get an inch of real dark skimmate a day. My only complaint is it can be real sensitive at times and the cup will fill up with water.

I have been watching the urchin just for that reason. Everything is pretty secure and he has not moved a thing yet.

Hi Dano999. I want to connect my RO/DI unit the same way you did yours in the laundry room. Can you tell me where you got those parts to connect it to your cold water supply (or at least the name of the parts)? I can't find that john guest(?) adapter anywhere. I even showed it to my local hardware store and he had no idea what it was. Thanks.

How is the urchin doing with the Lobophora algae? I think I am getting the same thing on my rock! Tried scrubbing the other day with a hard brush... didin't do a thing.

It has mostly eaten the Coraline but has eaten about 25% of the Lobophora. It looks like it will keep it under control.

Latest FTS

Notice the Lobophora at the bottom and very top are gone thanks to the urchin.

Dano999,

Not sure if you have been asked this before, but what model of oceanic stand/canopy do you have?

thanks
G

Sorry for the slow response. I have been traveling a lot lately.

Both are Oceanic but I don't know the model. I tried to research it myself but Oceanic does not show this model anymore. I wish I knew because if I upgrade to a 6' I want the same model.

Hey, your tank is looking wonderful!! Question... How long have you had your Duncan, and what would you say the rate of growth has been? I have a Duncan with one large and one smaller head and am wondering how soon I should expect to see some growth... especially since I'm impatient and wanna know when my little guy will grow! :D

I got the Duncan in December with two heads it and now it has nine.

Feed it mysis or brine shrimp once a week and it will multiply quickly. I don't recommend more than once a week as I have seen over feeding kill one.

My Foxface was really bloated and hadn't eaten in a few days so to be on the safe side I decided to put him in a Hospital Tank in case it had a bacterial infection. I have to go out of town until Thursday and a dead Foxface in the DT could wipe it out before I get back.

While trying to get him out of the DT he got spooked and ran into the Urchin. He now has two spine pieces embedded in his side.

When I checked on him in the HT I noticed he didn't look as bloated anymore. Maybe he was constipated and the sting scared the s**t of of him.

Now I am concerned the sting may affect him or the spine may get infected. Although I did get a confirmation from someone that it was nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't think there is anything to worry about.

I have had a couple fish run into my short spine urchin and have a couple spines stuck in them. The spines eventually fall out and the fish is back to normal in no time.

Even if you forget where it is in the tank and accidentally get stung, there is almost no effect on me. I just pull out the spines and soak it under hot water.

I would think that if he shows any bad effects, raise the temp of the QT and treat for a bacterial infection.

Better safe than sorry.

I came back from being out of town and he's still alive. Since he's also not bloated anymore I'm going to move him back into the DT.

that is good news
can you post a picture before putting him back in the DT. You might have missed something that others on here might pick up.
