FYI

You only need to feed them once a week. I read a thread where a guy fed them daily and they died. Some people don't feed them at all.

Cool!

Thanks for that info about feeding. Didn't know it was possible to feed it to death.

Thanks again and sorry for mucking you your thread.

Your new additions are beautiful as usual!! Glad to see your new skimmer is working well.Looks like you are going to run out of room soon when they all grow up! Are you planning on adding anymore fish soon? Glad to hear you are going to get another tank soon, any plans on it yet?

Still debating on the new tank. I'll know more this Summer. I think I would rather increase to a 156 gal 60 X 24 X 25 Starphire Glass tank than get a Nano. Still checking out the cost.

I am thinking about a pair of clowns and hopefully can add them next week. I would like to get Gold Maroons.

Those are pretty fish,I just had to google them cause I've never seen them before. You seem to like different types of fish then you see at a lfs. :)

I am completely happy with the T5s. If I went with MHs I would have a temperature problem which would require a chiller. If you choose the T5s remember to add the fans. This not only keeps the tank cooler but increases the intensity of the lamps. Also you did not state if you are considering the VHO for the T5s. This will overdrive the lamps to 85W. I would recommend ReefGeek for the T5 retrofit as their prices are very competitive and the service is excellent.

I have many SPS in the tank and all are doing just fine. I also believe some of my LPS may not appreciate the intensity of the MHs.

I went with 4 bulbs of the regular HO T5's on my 90 and from what I hear it is pleanty for keeping just about anything as long as they are placed correctly. I am not sure if the overdrive to a "VHO" is worth it or not. I am sure they are great, but it is something to keep in mind. I do wonder what my tank would look like with 6 bulbs sometimes :D The icecap reflectors are great. I got mine from ReefGeek as well.

Hey it's me again with more questions :)

I think i am leaning towards the same light setup as you. 6x54 VHO (overdriven to 85w). I have heard that you have to change overdriven bulbs every 6-9 months. From the start of your thread, I think you are at about 7 months? Have you had to change bulbs yet? That's the biggest drawback for me now. Would hate to have to change bulbs twice a year.

Thanks,
Wil

Talking with the guy at ReefGeek he says once every 9 months. This would be the same as T-5s that are not over driven. I have not read where someone said every 6 months. Please point me to this thread.

MHs are every 6 months.

I am just about ready to change mine as it is almost eight months and I prefer to change them early.

Actually that info was from reefgeek...

"I personally recommend replacing the bulbs every 12 months or so normally driven and every 6-9 months over-driven"

Just wondering on which side of that range is more realistic to change.

Well I will just plan on every 7 to 8 months. Just ordered some and they will be here early next week.

I am changing the type of bulbs and order slightly from last time.

Yes

I was doing some reading on the T-5 thread and some were recommending this setup. We'll see how it does.

I had that setup and thought it was too pink. Mine wasn't overdriven but don't know if that makes a difference.
