Starting a new 90 Progress will be updated

So if you pull the pipe out of the overflow, and all the water in the overflow drains into the tank, is that the 6 gallons you are referring to? Sounds like you are covered.

It's actually less than 4.3 Gal which is why I said the most I would ever need is 6 gals. The overflow dimensions are 10 X 5 X 20. The pipes displace some of the capacity so it's less than 4.3.

It's been a few weeks since my last update. I added three new pieces of coral and my second fish yesterday so I decided to update the thread.

Dendrophyllia Dendrophylliida Still mostly closed after two days but it's getting better.

Green Frogspawn Euphyllia paradivisa

Yellow Porites Porites spp

I used a Quarantine Tank this time. The auto feeder is not being used so no comments please. The tank is a 20 gal with a sponge filter and a HOB filter. Back and sides are painted black and the bottom is painted white. Also added is a heater, airstone and some PVC for shelter.

And my new fish. A Powder Brown Tang Acanthurus japonicus He's eating well and is pretty active. Nitrites are a little high .075 so I did a 25% water change today. The sponge filter was in my sump for 4 weeks so I was hoping it had enough bacteria to keep the levels normal.

I also have a new head on my Duncan

And here's the latest full tank shot

Dano, glad to see you back posting more beautiful pics! I am surprised that your new tang is only your second fish though. Tank looks great! I wish the corals would grow faster lol... Are either of the videos the dendrophyllia that you have?

I think it's cool just to watch them eat! I soooo can't wait till I am well enough to set my tank back up,but in the meantime I enjoy looking at and reading thread builds. Keep up the good work!!! :)

Hey Deb

The second video is the one I have. It doesn't open up as much as the one in the video. I tried to feed it today amd not much of a reaction.

I planned on my second fish in December but my job got real busy and didn't leave much time to manage a quarantine tank.

I am considering adding a RedSea 34 gal Nano to put in my office. Boy this is an addictive hobby.

Here's another picture of the Porites.

If you look close you can see a bristle star. I did not notice it until I was processing the image. It's in the middle about 2/3s the way down. It was hard to make out what it was. Below is a blow up of the area but it was moving and came out blurry. It's either that or multiple bristle worms. I have never seen bristle stars in the tank before.

The coral is actually growing fairly well. The Duncan now has 3 small heads so in a month or two I will have 5 adult heads.

Below is the green birdsnest on 12/30/07 and on 02/08/08 to compare.

Nice tank Dano! I am just starting to put together my 90 gallon. Same tank, stand, and canopy as yours. I also have 6 T5 lights. I am tagging along.

I would jump at the chance to have a nano at work.Redsea 34 gal. man you got the fever big time...lol... That looks like more then one bristleworm to me. That camera takes pictures that are so clear and crisp! Your corals are really growing when you show the comparison. Oh I almost forgot are you going to to a build thread for your office tank? :)

I could build a thread for the nano but I am hoping it's really just a plug in with not a whole lot of work involved to get it running. I guess the first month would just be watching it cycle. ;)

I have been researching all night on different nanos trying to compare so the RedSea is not a done deal yet. Another one I like is the C.A.D. Signature 39 gal.

I got a few new pieces today. Below are some quick photos. I'll post better ones later.

I decided not to get a nano tank and invested in a different skimmer. I'm going to try the ATI Bubble Master 160. I was limited to the size and had to stay with something less than 8.5" X 12" X 20". I came real close to getting a Bubble King but $1000 was really hard to swallow.

Sorry Tunze 9010 users. I tried for three months but never got good output. I read every thread about this skimmer I could find to improve results. I ended up having to take the thing apart 15 times for cleaning, motor replacement, nozzle replacement etc.. Also the skimmer would quit producing skimmate after cleaning the cup for days. I would have to clean the cup again to get it to produce and sometimes I had to clean it three times. The maximum output of skimmate was 100 ml a week.

So I have a Tunze 9010 for sale.

I find it amusing to see the macro shots, then see the full tank shot. It seems like you have no room for growth with such large corals until you show the full tank shot and you can see them as small frags :D

Is it just my computer, or are your rocks completely covered in coralline? Looks good.

What is the green in the bottom middle?

Wow great tank love the fish. Has your foxface ever touched a coral. Love all the new additions and corals.

The foxface has never touched a coral. He did remove some bubble algae for me. :)

It's a great fish. He has a great personality and will even eat out of my hand.

Wow thats great. Got to love the foxface for getting the bubble algae out. What are you thinking about adding in the future.

Thats stinks about your skimmer. To bad you couldn't get a refund. You must be bummed having to invest your nano tank money for a skimmer. Pictures look great as usual. I wonder how your foxface and tang will get along?
