Starting a Sea Horse - Pipe fish tank?

Hi all:

I got an established saltwater tank almost a year ago, but would love to get a sea horse - pipefish tank going. I have the chance of getting a 35 gallon hex tank (tall) tank, which I think would be wonderful for sea horses and pipefish.
But my problem is I know NOTHING about them. I don't have the tank yet so I'm starting yearly and finding out what I need to do.
I want to do it all right the first time so I need total help here.

I need help and all the pointers you can give me.

First thing you should do is decide if you want pipefish OR seahorses. It's not advisable to mix the two because the seahorses will be (or you should only purchase) captive bred but the pipefish will be wild caught. Meaning, your pipefish will have been exposed to bacterias/pathogens your CB seahorses have no immunity to.

Once you decide which you want, we'll be glad to give pointers and opinions on a proper tank setup.

Well I must say that I'm totally surprised by that answer, but after reading why, it does make sense.

I got the tank home today. It was used for fresh water fish and looks like it's been sealed in a couple different places. So I think the first order will be to let it totally dry out and than reseal the whole thing before I start messing with it.

I'm starting this really slow, so I think I will go and read up on the starting a sea horse thread and read threw there.
