What can i use for filtering ? need skimmer? What else?

You can use and Aqua-clear filter for filtration. You don't NEED a skimmer but that's really up to you.

What are you doing for lighting, and a heater? Sump, or no sump?

as far as a filter goes, the live rock will be your "filter." i have a 12g nano with no skimmer as long as you don't have more than 2-3 small fish like firefish or small gobies or blennies you should be fine as long as you do a weekly water change, 2 gallons imo. lighting, power compact if you want to try your luck at some coral, you don't need t-5 or metal halide for a small tank like that. i would also try to get some sand that has been in someones tank for a while "live sand" and put that over the sand you put in, oh and i wouldn't use crused coral either. hope that helps. jake

I have live rock and an Aquaclear filter. It adds circulation and a mechanical filter. If you use one, make sure you clean it and rinse the media in R/O at least once a week to keep nitrates low.

I also do weekly 2gal water changes.

I have a ten gallon. Here is my equipment.

10 gallon aga
Coralife 96watt powerquad light
Aquaclear 70 modded into a refugium
CRP Bak Pak skimmer

LR/LS with good water flow is more than enough filtration if you don't overstock or overfeed. If you overstock/overfeed you're going to run into problems regardless. IMO, skimmers are not necessary, especially on smaller tanks.

Lighting is the only other thing to think about, and that depends on what types of corals you want to keep, if any.
