Starting to buy equipment for my new tank, this is what I need

Hyperion, I am using my own lights, they are 400 MH, I considered LED's but I want this to be a kick *** system and I don't have time to experiment with them. I know well my way around with MH and since my reflectors are vented outside, the chiller is also outside I don't really have a problem with heat.

You know this comment will bring on the LED Zommbies to debate you, :blown: :headwalls:

"You know Rogger, it isnt just the heat, its the "efficiency". You will save $7.42 per month on power bill. Heck in 13 years and 3 months that LED unit will be paid for" :wavehand:

Great to have you back. You always have some of the best tanks. I have a chiller from the 300. I don't remember the size or the name, but I can get that for you tomorrow.

I AM on the Rebublican Committee National Book Tour. LOL

When have you seen me flip flop on LEDS?

Regarding the AWC: you mentioned the LM3 to me 3 years ago, I wasnt convinced then, and dont know that i am now. How is that flip flopping?

As a typical liberal you want to push YOUR agenda wether its been proven to be effective, fiscally responsible, or have the consequences been considered long term, LMAO. Dont care to continue this but you started.

Eddie, the lights are still a heated issue but not to me, I am very clear with what I want, what I want to obtain and how to get there, so no led's for me unless for supplementation wich I will have some xho reefbrights. Maybe in the future tgat may change but I will need to tested my self .
Lacy, yes please send me the specs of the chiller, I have located one already but it would need to shipped and I am afraid of shipping something something so heavy.

Rog- i meant to ask. You using same electrical panel and plumbing u have outside right? Tank going in same place as before?

Tank is going in the same room but instead of a peninsula, this one will be against the same wall in the direction of the living room side. I am trying to utilize the same wall holes and electrical yes!

Rogger, I think you got it right with MH for growing SPS. Looking for to the build, congrats.

Electricity Cost:
Eddie the cost of running a 100 watt bulb constantly for one month is about $7 bucks.

For MH
If you ran 3 400watt bulbs for one month= 1200w = $84.00

Now if you ran them for 8 hours a day divide that by 3= $25.20 per month

If you ran for 6 hours a day, divide by 4= $21.00 per month

Now for LED.
Should be able to get equivalent results with 1/3 the wattage. 400w

8 hours 25.20/3= $8.40

6 hours 21/3= $7.00

Conclusion:
Rogger will be paying more than the 7 dollars more you pointed out. More like $14-18 bucks more. ( ;

Yes, It will take a LONG time to buy a Radion with those savings

I ran My lights less time than that, normally I only ran one hour at a time every two hours for 10 hour spam so that is a total of 4 hours and get the same results as if I ran them straight for 10 hours and no heat issues.
But overall the most important thing to me is that I prefer the look of the metal halide compared to led, could I save some money by using LEDs ? Maybe but I rather save somewhere else and get the look I like !

Have a 1.5 hp 220v chiller, bought from aquatic ecosystems. Works good, but numbers on digital display are almost unreadable due to sun damage when previous owner had it installed outside. $300
