Starting up my JBJ 12g Nano Cube again

Alrighty.... It's been over a week but I just got in my LR order from Dr's Foster & Smith and just put some of it in the nano... The order was for "Premium Figi" rock... It looks a little too branchy to be Figi to me ( but I'm no expert ) ... What do you all think of the rock and the way it's been "scaped"... I'm wanting to stay away from the glass for maint. purposes and I was able to do that ...

Here you go.....

Thank you.... I had a bunch .. some with flash some not... I was trying to get the lighting right to show the colors of the rock...

Now the "cycle" begins......lol

JMO..top rock looks high in the tank.....won't it get exposed during water changes? It looks level with the intake grate. Personally, I' break the upper rock into smaller pieces and work with it. SH

Bob, tank looks good. I agree with you though, that Fiji does looke very Branchy, but looks good and will provide for some fun little places for some gobies to dart in and out of, or be good places to set your corals when they come. I'm gonna update my thread now.

"Water changes...?".... Yea it does kinda look like an alien spaceship sitting on top like that.... Instead of breaking it up, I may consider using a different piece that I've still got in the box waiting to go into the other tanks or just move it around.... One more thing that I did was to add a hydor deflector to the output... I got the idea from another persons tank thread here in the nano forum... I like the alternating flow that it's providing.....

It's a common mod..I have one on mine. If it pops off, you can use teflon tape to make it snugger. Some people put a piece of plexiglass in the back corner to help reflect some of the water back into the tank.

Yeah, that top rock reminds me of that old time alien video game Space Invaders. LOL. SH

 Yea I thought so too..... I ended up "moving" it a bit now it blends very well with the rest of the rockwork.... I ended up using tape ( like you ) after mine shot off into the tank.... If they had supplied just one other adaptor....LOL... Anyway, would you say that this rock is FIGI...??? I went through the rest of the box that I got from Fosters & smith and it looks to me like it's a mixed batch... It was supposed to be "Premium Figi" Hand selected with very little rubble.... It was on sale for $89/45lbs... But I've got to tell you... this stuff is not what I would consider "Premium" by any stretch of the imagination.... Shoot, I've gotten better looking LR for a buck/lb at the wholesalers.... I ended up with "maybe" 6 good sized pieces and the rest was busted up ... I've probably got about a pound or so of rubble in the bottom of the box...

I'm going to take some pictures of it and send it up to Liveaquaria's customer service via email ( pic's attached )... I'm not happy at all with this rock... Very little if any growth or coraline on it.....

I hope they can do something for me on this cause they did get me for shipping as well.... And it came from California rather than Florida where they said it was supposed to be comming from....

I'll have to show you the pic's of my 37 gal. tank that's also being setup along with the 12gal. nano cube....

LA is usually pretty good on service. They may replace some of the LR if you complain. I got mine from premiumaquatics. If there are no good lfs's near you, you could possibly 'topoff' your tank with a few lbs from them. SH

Well actually, it was pretty incredible.... After sending the email to LA, I also called them... Before even looking at the pictures, they made it right by telling me that they were going to ship out another 45lb box of what I originally ordered this comming Tuesday ( I will get it Thursday )... They also told me that they would make it a point to have the folks in Calif. "hand pick" the right stuff this time.... This will be done at no cost to me... Now "that's" customer service... And they have earned a loyal customer....

Here are pictures of what I got originally from them ( minus the ones you've already seen ).... And by the way, I replaced the full spectrum bulb in the 37gal. for a 20watt actinic for now... I have not purchased the final lighting for this tank... And the rock that's in there now, the stuff from LA, will be going into the sump of my 150gal.... You'll also see some pics of my HOB fuge that's over the 37gal....

Obviously needs more rock/height, but now THAT'S AQUASCAPING. A+. WTG. SH

Thank you.... Once the "new" rock gets here, I'll be redoing the aquascaping and putting the rock that's in there into the sump of my 150.....

Just got the "fresh" shipment of LR from LA ( live aquaria ) I have not opened it up yet.... tomorrow morning... I'm hoping that it's what I should have gotten the first time... I'll update with pictures tomorrow...

Bob

Well it's been 10 days since the last pics were posted on this tank .... Since then, the diatoms have given way to the dreaded "green hair" algae.... I've put a few snails in the tank ( from my 150gal. ) 3 turbos and 2 nasarius ( so far ) I plan on ordering a sally lightfoot crab also to put in there but I'm really not in any big hurry with this tank but wanted to post some "updated" pics so here ya go....
