Stealth Heater Catastrophe

That is great to hear, i'm sure they'll be happy to find new territories in your setup. They both have a lot of personality when there not stressed out, hopefully they'll settle down quickly for you.

no that is still sitting in waiting...this happened in my current Red Sea setup...now i'm just going to take a break and stock pile some good stuff to go into the 52g.

Sorry about your issue. I have an AC3 set to turn off @ 79 and the controller set to turn off @ 80. Both would have to fail. I also like the titanium heater which lasted 1.5 years.

So there is definitely not a best way to skin a cat as it pertains to this topic. Once I'm ready to setup the new 52g I got from BBoley I'll start looking into this again. I like the idea of having two smaller heaters, I guess when the time comes I'll see what my plans are for other gadgetry on the tank and determine the best case from there. I'm thinking that a controller may be in my near future.

This weekend was just not the same without feeding my fish. Oh well, at least 2 of the 3 survived and have a new home.

The remains of my tank I'm considering doing a thorough water change and just see what grows on my live rock for awhile. Might be kind of surprising and fun.

The heat would not have killed your rock. It's not good for it for sure, but I think you would be surprised about what can come back.

Yea i figure without all the larger critters in there i might actually see some neat macro algaes other than bubble algae and hair algae :). I used to have some really cool purple type of algae but my coral beauty devoured that within a week.

Just saw your post and wanted to let you know I had the same type of problem with a stealth(if you mean Marineland), it didn't shut down when it was out of the water and ended up rupturing and boiling off in my tank for an unknown period of time. Fortunately my tank is grounded and its didn't effect any of the tanks inhabitants. Made my apartment smell like you would not believe though. Anyway, I email Marineland right away and they have actually put a "stop sale" on the because they have been found to be defective. You may want to contact them and see what they can do for you. The are sending my a Visitherm to replace it for free, so they might help you out in some way.
