Steven's 360gl Starphire inwall Project

Can you post more pictures of your lighting? What would you suggest for a tank 72x36x24 tall? could I get away with one 48"?

Doug

Yes you could get away with it but you will have dark ends on the tank. I think the fish like that to be honest. It gives them a little retreat. But its all up to you. I would go with the 72" but thats me. It will be worth it in the long run.

I will try and get some more pics for you when the lights aren't on so you can see it better.

Thanks Nathan4Wvu, I always like to hear good feedback. Or back feedback for that matter.

Love the tank, stand and your new home.
Nice choice on equipment and that stand work makes for an outstanding display!

How thick is the glass? Looks pretty thick.

The glass is 1/2 on the three viewable sides and 3/4 on the overflow side.

Thanks the squares on the bottom were a last second thing. When I built the stand I noticed that the squares were pretty even and that it would look pretty good if we showed them in the drywall. So I moved a few 2bys and made them all the same and it turned out pretty good.

Steven,

The tank and the home look awesome! I am having a new home built and will put a 210 in wall and have spent many hours thinking about how to make it viewable on 2 sides and accessible from the front. I like your design and would like to replicate it.

What did you back the stand with to create the recessed areas and did you use drywall to face it? Also what type of wood did you use for the hood? I, like you, want to make mine accessible from the front without cabinet doors. Also, what hinges did you use to keep the doors flush?

Thanks in advance for sharing, and again I'm really impressed by overall construction.

you built my dream. I only have a 29 gallon tank right now and live in an apartment, but what you built is what I want to have some day. Awesome tank, nice mermaid, my wife supports the addiction as well so I know what a gem it is to find someone who will not balk at most of the cost, amazing set up. Nice to see that my dream tank is do-able at some point.
Andy

Thanks very much andy, I appricate it.

I should have some better pictures up after the honeymoon and the the tank is alittle more established so I can get some coral and such in there.

I am also going to start using the Zeovit method when I get back. I will show you guys the pictures of before and after of the corals as they start to change.

Well I am back so I will be getting some pictures posted. I got to scuba through a 6 million gallon tank. Sharks and everything. It was FANTASTIC.

And the fish they had at the rainforest cafes there were great too. They had a few 16in angels it was pretty neat to see them that big.

Wow, amazing setup. I'm looking into buying a GEO kalk reactor. Have you setup yours? Are they any good and how did you set it up? Thanks.

cobysreef- There really aren't an minuses about these lights except for the Price:). If you read the sfiligoi lighting website you can read everything it does. I wanted them so my fish and corals don't have a SHOCK of light. Instead of having just the hottest point of the day and have the light just go off at night, I have a hour sunrise starting at the left side of my tank and a sunset ending on the right side of my tank. Its pretty cool to watch.

jeffreylam1132- Thanks I'm glad you like it. I have a Geo protein skimmer but not a Cal reactor. I have a Jetstream 1 cal reactor and I don't have corals in there yet so Its not set up. I will let you know on it though. I have heard get things about it so thats why it went with it instead of Geo, Which is also a great reactor.

Ironsheikh-Thanks, I'm trying:)
