been a fish guy since I was a little fellow, went into salt back in the '80's, just fish never any corals or inverts...due to family, work etc. I went about a dozen years with only a 5 gallon with a single clown and anemone...for the last 3 years I have had a 120 gallon with fish, anemones, inverts, zoas and leather; now of course I just want something BIGGER
-I will keep my same theme of fish, and easy corals, don't know if I'll ever get courage/knowledge to get into LPS and SPS but my main love has always been fish
-doing an acrylic tank 138" Long x 24" wide x 26" tall, rear internal drain box, (4) 1" returns and (3) 1.5" Drains, it is going to be in my office at work so yes I wanted wider but just wouldn't fit in the space I have, I think my tangs will really enjoy the cruising distance though :fish1:; I am supposed to have the tank by end of Feb.
-will have a sump under the stand holding 71 gallons, a refug with 55 gallons and a 38 gallon ATO tank
THE BAD: commercial building with cement floor so no plumbing going down, behind tank is lobby so no fish room and if I wanted to go up and out I would need to go over 100' run to get to an area that I could have anything, so I will be rolling BRUTE cans in for water coming in and running a hose to a floor drain for water going out
THE GOOD: it is in my office which I can then view for 8-11 hours each day, way more than I could ever see it at home, I work with some other fish guys so while I'm on the road or vacation I have someone to carefully watch and feed for me
GOING TO GET RIPPED: I already know as I won't be doing things like most people do, that is OK I have thick skin but in all honesty please stop me from making mistakes if you see it, I by no means am even close to an expert at this stuff, learned a ton thru the years but I am smart enough to realize all the things I DON'T know, I have had good luck with my current set up so just going bigger, running Marineland Bio Wheels (ok sit back down in your chair and cease the name calling :crazy1
, my LFS runs this also and I really trust him, (4) Eheim 1260 pumps, Apex, (3) AquaUV 57 watt, Reef Oct. Regal 300SSS skimmer, a Vortech MP60 head and various other heads; don't know about lights or heaters yet, still researching/deceiding
MISC: will be running shallow sand, I built my stand from 2 x 2 x 3/16 steel wall tubing and it is currently at powder coating, and I will put 3/4" plywood and 1" foam under the tank, I put unistrut on the rear of my stand and will make brackets to come up an over and hang my lights, I will be installing a back up generator for the circuits (and others in the building) and have (2) dedicated 20amps at the tank with ethernet port for the Apex, macro and pods in my refug and few hundred pounds of rock (boy will that be a challenge for my, to say I am a really bad aquascaper would be a compliment, I won't even post my current pile of rocks, with what I see you folks doing on RC I am ashamed and will stay in hiding)
