stinky sand...

when I got my new tank, the guy gave me about 3/4 of a 5 gal. bucket full of sand...it had alot of death in it...I am rincing it out...should I bother rincing it or just get new...it looks good tho and its sugar grade..oh and I will post pics of the tank when I get started on it tonight! yay! gotta love christmas break!

I have reused sand many many many time you just have to make sure you rinse it really good I usually take the hose to it after many times of spraying through it it will run clear... but in this weather...

I have a hose hooked up in my tub, we have small animals and give them baths in it lol I know redneck but I have it running in the 5 gal. bucket and every couple min. I stir up the sand and put the hose back in does that sound good?

You wont find that sand local for sale, it is Southdown. I would rinse it for at least 1 hour or until the smell is gone- just stick the hose in the bucket and let it go. I would do it outside in the yard but that is just me. good luck

The tub is in my basement...It was one we had after we remodled, and the dran goes down to the sewage thing lol but thanks for the advice!

stir it good a couple of times get everything out of it but it sounds like you probably are okay Is it a new tank or going into an old tank.

if it's new the last little bits will work it's way out in the cycleing proccess
