STN after COMP123????

Hello All,
I recently started COMP123 and a week later I noticed one of my acros STN and my red monti is completely gone now. Not sure why. My Alk
has been staying rock solid. I've been dosing 55ml a day of each component. I have not changed a thing but started this. I used to just run Randy's Recipe 1 and BRS Calcium.
One thing that actually just yesterday came to mind is I use Aqau vitro Salinity Salt which is supposedly packed with all the micro elements, could I have over dosed the micro elements now that I am dosing COMP 3? I was planning on switching to AF Reef salt once I was done with this bucket.

I also had a acro rtn on me a few days ago. And the last two weeks colors have been getting lighter. And seeing a few with tissue recession on the base. I started this system about a month ago and everything is going south. I was using ESV two part that has trace elements as well so don't think it is because of too much. I also started using AF reef salt a few week before all of the other AF products. This is driving me crazy so I sent some water to AWT to be tested. I should know in a couple days what is off. If it continues I will pull the plug on all AF products.

Hello,
Can I see photos of your corals with STN?
Full tank shot?

Results of what salt are you showing?

Best regards,
Aquaforest

Here's a couple corals that took a hit. One monti I already threw away I had for months. Sucks so bad.

Although I don't have these issues and my saltwater heart goes out to you, I'm following this to better understand the potential causes. I can't imagine only changing to comp 1,2,3+ would cause this. I've been dosing comp 1,2,3 for 6 months and actually don't do water changes anymore. My system is low nutrient with a healthy cheato chamber in the sump. I have a considerable investment in a mixed reef with softies, LPS, and SPS and would love to learn more as to why you're experiencing this die off. Good luck on solving this quickly.

So here are some that I am having issues with. Greens look washed out and RTN and some with tissue lose at base.

Before RTN. Notice it had green befote the use of AF products.

Now

Lost alot of greens in most corals but hit these two the worst. Pic's show more green then how they look in person.

Mr. Fish tank you ever end up sending out the water for a test?

My STN stopped now that I switched back to my old ALK/CALC.. Not sure what to do here. You still dosing the stuff and everything bounce back on your end?

I simply can't believe that this is coming by dosing comp 123

If I would be you I would as fast as possible feed your corals with amino acids

Would not wonder me at all, if your PO4 = 0,00 and this is the reason for your dying SPS

I am definitly not blaming comp123 but something in the mix my tank did not like. I will continue to use AF since all I see his amazing SPS tank
Your correct, I tested PO4 and it read 0.00 on Hanna. I just ordered new Nitrate test but last month I tested it was <5.

i started feed more frozen, dosed Acro Power and Reef Chili. I just dont want to do it to fast

I also never blamed my color loss on comp 1,2,3. Just stating the fact that after I started using AF products my corals have been loosing alot of color.
My PO4 always read zero on my hanna checker and red sea pro test kits. I have some algae in my tank so I know that there is enough PO4 for my corals. Nitates are at 4ppm. I use their a,v,e,b supplements every day.

All corals that were affected are still looking crappy. I sent my water in on monday but Aqaumedic is taking their sweet time with it. I typically get my results back in a day or two. But as soon as I have them I will post it for you.

Hope your corals are recovering well. I will continue all AF products for now. Corals that had RTN or slight tissue loss has stopped. Color will take awhile to get back but I really hope that it does. I will continue for another month with the same routine and see if things improve.

As promised. I finally got my results. Looks like I will need to get a new calcium and mag and nitrate test kit mine are way off. My Redsea pro kits read 415 cal,1380 mag and only 4ppm no3. But even with them being higher I don't think that this should cause my issues. Could be wrong tho.

Also have extremely high silicates. Only use rodi and just replaced all cartridges 2 months ago. Rodi test 0.0 tds.

Has everything stabilized for you now? The only thing you changed was your dosing?

Nope. Corals still look like garbage. And a few frags I got from a fellow reefer about a month ago are also looking bad. While others are looking fantastic. I don't understand what the hell is going on in my tank. Some of the green corals that were fading are now turning red. I made a thread of what looked like a marbleizing effect on my large tabling acro. It is now turning red. Started under the coral and now going into the branches. Some others thought that it might be a color morph but I'm not sure. It is now turning my Strawberry Fields Sarmentosa red in the base and also the branches. It is only supposed to be redish pink on the very tips, and all green in the base and branches so.... IDK

I'm still dosing comp 2 at the moment but not comp 1 or 3. Trying to get my calcium down. Was running low on the three so went out today and got some more. I have my calcium down to 425 from the 490 ATW said it was.
"Well." according to my new test kit anyway. :spin2:
I did end up pulling out the reactor about 3 days ago with the zeomix. And now just running carbon and the gfo stuff in a media bag in the sump. Haven't seen an improvment yet.

How is everything doing in your tank? What have you done to fix it?

Man that's such a bummer dude. You lost some nice looking pieces and decent size. I stopped all the AF and went back to regular baking soda and brs. Sucks because I have full comp123 still. My sps stopped stn but still don't look the best. Seems like any growth I get it dies off shortly and then algae grows on it. I am leaning towards a nutrient issue right now. But letting it ride out. I don't know what the hell to do with this right now. So frustrating should of just did another softie lps. I had a stunning lps tank before but really wanted a full sps tank and I FAILEDDDDDDD. Sucks so bad. AGH.
