stocking a 29g hex

my end game plan is a nano reef but seeing this is my first sw setup, i wanted to start with the fish and cleanup crew first and add corals last. the tank is 20"tallx18"wide the only fish i plan on so far is a yellow watchman goby, is there any mid-water fish besides damsels or the smaller cardinals that could thrive in a tank with these dimensions? seems like most of the small fish that new hobbyist are drawn to (dwarf angels, flasher wrasses, dragonets) require larger tanks. any info is much appreciated.

hmmm...what about a black and white or gold bar clown? a friend of mine had a maroon clown that would only come out of his cave when fed. are the ocellaris clowns more active?

how well would a coral beauty or a chalk bass work?

I think a chalk bass would work. 18" isn't big enough for most fish species.
