I am currently setting up a new 120 gal tank, it is going to be FOWLR. I am a big proponent of Aquacultured fish. The only fish currently kept is
- (1) orchid dottyback (TR)

Other Additions:
-(1) Blue Mandarin (TR)
-(1) Yellow Banded Wrasse
-(1) White Banded Possum Wrasse
-(2) White-spot Pygmy Filefish (TR)
-(1) Purple Firefish
-(1) Neon Blue Goby (TR)
-(3) Chalk Bass
-(Pair) Ocellarus Clowns (TR)
-(1) Dwarf Flame Angel
-(1) Yellow Tang
-(1) Blue Hippo Tang

Some fish up for consideration:
Banggi Cardinal Fish (TR)
Some Form of Pipe Fish

Thanks for your input.

I think pipe fish need a whole different environment than most of those fish in your list. I'm not sure that they would do well in a FOWLR tank either. I think they are more of a planted tank fish. Maybe even a species only like seahorses. I'm no expert. But the copepod population would also have to be large and well established.

Other Additions:
-(1) Blue Mandarin (TR) - Yes, after the tank has been established

-(1) Yellow Banded Wrasse - Yes, but it will compete for pods
-(1) White Banded Possum Wrasse - Yes, but it will compete with the mandarin for pods
-(2) White-spot Pygmy Filefish (TR) - Yes
-(1) Purple Firefish - Yes
-(1) Neon Blue Goby (TR) - Yes
-(3) Chalk Bass - Yes
-(Pair) Ocellarus Clowns (TR) - Yes
-(1) Dwarf Flame Angel - Yes
-(1) Yellow Tang - Yes
-(1) Blue Hippo Tang - No, requires a larger tank

Some fish up for consideration:
Banggi Cardinal Fish (TR) - Yes
Some Form of Pipe Fish - I would choose between the mandarin or the pipefish, but not both. Also, as mentioned above they might not be the best candidates for this tank

I agree

Tank Raised Mandarin comes eating pellets. Tank will be feed 2X daily, (1)auto feeder pellet-flake & (1) hand fed Frozen, Pellet-flake, &/or live food. As for natural forage there is an in tank refugium for constant supply of pods.

Blue Hippo Tang, My LFS will trade the tang when he is to large for tank. He has demand for "Large or Show" size fish.

Just looking for fish with good personalities. Thanks for the help.

I would still reccomend against a blue tang of any size.

Pellets? I know they can eat frozen but I'd ask to see them eat pellets before counting on that.

I'd avoid the pipefish like others have mentioned. They won't do well with high flow and can't compete for food as they are slow. Best kept in a species only tank with others needing the same requirements like seahorses. Just my two cents :)

Just wanted to update everyone on the stocking list. This tank started from mostly "dry" rock & a few large chunks of Fiji rock from a 15yr old system. Copepods were added to the display to speed up populations. Filter was seeded from bottled bacteria.

Current Residents:
(pair) Matted Filefish (A)
(pair) O. Clowns (A)
(pair) Banggi Cardinals (A)
(pair) chalk Bass
yellow Tang
Blue Tang
Purple Firefish
Dwarf Flame Angel

Next incoming set of fishes. All of these fish are coming from Aquaculture facilities and arrive eating frozen foods:
Pair Banded Pipefish
Pair of Mandarin
