I am currently setting up a new 120 gal tank, it is going to be FOWLR. I am a big proponent of Aquacultured fish. The only fish currently kept is
- (1) orchid dottyback (TR)

Other Additions:
-(1) Blue Mandarin (TR)
-(1) Yellow Banded Wrasse
-(1) White Banded Possum Wrasse
-(2) White-spot Pygmy Filefish (TR)
-(1) Purple Firefish
-(1) Neon Blue Goby (TR)
-(3) Chalk Bass
-(Pair) Ocellarus Clowns (TR)
-(1) Dwarf Flame Angel
-(1) Yellow Tang
-(1) Blue Hippo Tang

Some fish up for consideration:
Banggi Cardinal Fish (TR)
Some Form of Pipe Fish

Thanks for your input.

Looks like a pretty nice list! I would avoid the Hippo Tang since it will need to be rehomed eventually. That can be stressful on it if it keeps happening.

In a tank that size, you likely won't see the Neon Goby much. They're super tiny and can easily disappear.

Pipefish are awesome, but it will have too much competition for food in your tank. I'd avoid that.

Good luck! Keep us posted with your choices and some pics :)

Just wanted to update everyone on the stocking list. This tank started from mostly "dry" rock & a few large chunks of Fiji rock from a 15yr old system. Copepods were added to the display to speed up populations. Filter was seeded from bottled bacteria.

Current Residents:
(pair) Matted Filefish (A)
(pair) O. Clowns (A)
(pair) Banggi Cardinals (A)
(pair) chalk Bass
yellow Tang
Blue Tang
Purple Firefish
Dwarf Flame Angel

Next incoming set of fishes. All of these fish are coming from Aquaculture facilities and arrive eating frozen foods:
Pair Banded Pipefish
Pair of Mandarin

The blue tang and the yellow tang will not work in that size tank once they get bigger. The blue needs a much larger tank. Other than that, I like the stocking list.

I still have to voice my opinion against adding the pipefish. They are very slow moving and tend to be delicate, even tank-bred individuals. Even with a large pod population, they will likely starve to death because other fish will outcompete them for food (mandarins for the pods, all the other fish for frozen food).

Pipefish do better in a species-only tank.

Wanted to say thanks for you guys following this thread and your input.

BBT- Those leopard wrasses are some of the nicest looking fish, I'm sure you really enjoy him. I almost purchased one when I was in looking for the white banded wrasse I would like. Still considering it due to the seasonal availability of the banded wrasse.

Mike- I will try and put some pictures up ASAP, but I am not really a tech guy. I.e. my flip phone is so old there is no camera on it.

Thanks again guys.

Thanks again guys.

Thank you. He's definitely my favorite.
But you should really consider trying to rehome the blue tang.
