Stocking List

Ok, So my tank is up and running for a few months now and parmeters are all stable. I have transferred everyting from my old tank over to the new tank and added to the cleanup crew. Still working on a bit of GHA but the cleanup crew is doing a good job of slowly cutting it back.

Now I need to look at my stocking list and I need some help.

So far in the tank I have 1 Anthia and 1 6-Line Wrasse. There is also a damsel but he has been sent to the fuge for trying to kill everyone else in the old tank.

Setup is a 125 Gal display tank with a 55 gal sump. I also have a 40B tied into the system that will be used as the fuge. This is where the damsel is.
As for inverts I have 25 Cerith, 25 Margarita. I split them between the fuge and display. 2 Mexican Turbos, 3 emerald crabs and 1 cleaner shrimp all in the display.

I also currenty have a small frogspawn, a torch that is spreading like crazy and an elephant ear mushroom. I would like to add possibly zoa's, some other mushrooms, and a nem for the clowns. Not sure what else yet though.

What I would like to Add is below.
Please give me your input and suggestions as I am still fairly new.

Cardinal
a couple chromis
some kind of tang
and long term will be a mandarin.

I have lots of rock rubble piles in the fuge and I have started adding some pods to get the population started, still need to add some cheato as well.

Let me know your thoughts and suggestions.

A few changes to the sump since this picture was taken and new hanging Daylight LED lights over the fuge.
Also planning to flip the sump back the other way with the return in the center with a small on the current skimmer end.
Getting too much splashing with the high water lever in the return section.

What is a bit more plumbing anyway?

Looks ok. Chromis you will eventually be down to 1. The 6-line wrasse might very aggressive to any newcomers.

Skip the chromis and the sixline, there are much better choices of wrasse available. Get a bristletooth or Zebrasoma tang of some sort and no other algae eating fish. QT everything if you want to stay in this hobby for more than a few yrs, disease has made many leave the hobby.

Unfortunately the sixline is already in the tank, Came with the 125 tank when I bought it last year. I have the QT set up and ready to go, I just need to decide my list and get the fist of the new fish into it.

I have been taking my time and fine tuning everything since I set it up. My old 110 tall tank was up for almost 2 years before I switched everything over to the new system. Too many bad decisions on the 110 right from the second I bought it starting with trusting the LFS! It worked for me but I was not happy with it so I bought the 125 and I have been taking my time with it to make sure everything is good before I add anything else to the system because I don't want to mess up anything this time as it will be a lot harder to fix.

The family is anxiously awaiting the next fish to be added but they are enjoying the snails and crabs for now.

I will check out the other suggestions you made as well. I am open to different fish ideas.

Also I have been told I should not add the clowns until I have a nem due to the elephant ear. I was told they would try to host it and it could try to eat them. Any truth to that?

So your six line will compete with the mandarin for pods, basically all six line wrasses do all day is hunt for things to eat off the rock. Benefit here is they also eat prepared food whereas it is a huge huge crapshoot if you will have success with 1) getting lucky with a mandarin 2) getting less-but-still-lucky and training one to eat.

Aside from that, everything else would be cool.

Of course, I think chromis are a waste of a fish compared to the entire world of other choices you would have for a 125g tank. If you want a pair of them knock yourself out. If you want a schooling fish, it realistically won't happen, plenty of threads on the general topic.

Buying fish is a big decision, largely also a personal decision that people have lots of personal opinions on =)

Before you buy a fish, think to yourself about how hard this fish will be to remove if you change your mind.

Good to know for the sixline, i din't think of that. i guess it will depend on how well the fuge is pumping out the pods to feed them both or not. I don't plan to even consider one for at least another year while the tank matures, I will have to see what I can do to bump up the pod production from the fuge in the meantime.

I plan to take my time for sure.
I am not in a rush to add the next fish but it would be nice to have more to look at in the tank. Still want to have it all somewhat planned out before the next addition to the tank. I know how hard it is to get a fish out of the tank, I don't want to have to try and do it again.
