Stocking my new baby

Hello everyone! I've been out of the hobby for a while due to some major health issues but, now that I'm better I'm ready to hop back in. For a start, I purchased my new tank! It's 275 gallons at 8 foot long, 2 foot wide and 28 inches tall. I've not yet started cycling it so it'll be a while before I can begin stocking. I'd love to get some opinions on what to get though.

I'd like to mainly stock with butterflyfish, tangs and angels with various smaller tankmates. Would it be possible to mix dwarf angelfish in a tank this size? And which butterflyfish would do best in a large FOWLR tank? Any suggestions for which fish I should add?

Least aggressive to most. I think you would be OK doing a trio or angel, or mixing one or two. Should be enough room if there is plenty of rockwork. I always like the longnose and copperband butterflys. Although copperbands can be tricky.

what a great tank for a fowlr! Your options are nearly limitless.

I agree you can keep multiple dwarf angels in an 8' tank.

As far as butterflyfishes, just stay away from species that are obligate corallivores. Good, hardy species would be: C. auriga (threadfin), C. fasciatus (raccoon), C. lunula (different raccoon), chevron, pearlscale, mertin's all would be options.

As far as tangs: I would stay away from sohol and clown tangs for aggression reasons and most of the Naso spp.

Lets just say in my 8ft tank, I put in a Flame Angel, Multicolor Angel, and a Half-Black Angel. Right at the start of introduction is was all hell that broke out between the 3. About 4 days later, I lost the Half-black. 3 months later, the Flame and Multicolor still go at each other when they see each other. So every situation is different, but this was my experience.
