Stocklist advice

Hi all. Since it doesn't look like the intended fish purchases thread will be open for another "week or so," I thought I'd start a thread here.

I have a BioCube 29, live rock, CUC, and some coral (zoas, chalice, mushroom, hammer, birds nest), and its been up for about 4 months, slowly adding stuff here and there.

Today, I added my first fish, a firefish. Here's the other fish I would like to get (and in this order):

-Royal gramma
-Pink streaked wrasse
-Pair of clowns

I was also debating on a purple firefish (though he may clash with the red one in there now) and a flame angel (not reef safe? tank too small?). I'm not locked into the royal gramma, but I think it should go in next if I were to get him.

Any advice on order or alternative fish would be wonderful. Thanks!

I would not try two firefish in a tank as small as yours and definitely no Angel, the tank is not big enough. The three listed fish wold be fine.

Any other peaceful fish that would go with this group? Perhaps instead of a royal gramma? I'd like to get a decent spread, so leaning against another goby, even though the personalities of firefish aren't the same.

One trick is to split up the territories a little. You could look at fish that stay on the sand bed or hop around on the rocks. There's a few blennies that tend to perch on rocks, I have a starry that does. On the sand you could look at some gobies like yellow watchman and maybe pair it with a shrimp. Clown gobies look cool but I forget which kind of coral they nip.

Also if yours isn't the kind of biocube that has a lid you'll need one for the firefish.

Thanks! Blennies are a good shout, looking at tailspots. I can't wait to move to a bigger place, upgrade my tank, and get more fish! Kind of sucks having to pick and choose only a few.

Yep, got the lid.

I would try a pearly jawfish. very funny fish to watch, and personally I like them more than the blue spots.

I have a goby pistol shrimp in a 105. It is my favorite thing in the whole tank of course I have my rocks set firm with a base and rods so they can't be knocked over. I like the pistol shrimp goby combo so much I am setting up a 10 gallon nano just to have another pair. My big tank has an orange spotted goby. The new nano I am going to try a black sand bed with a bright red pistol shrimp and yasha goby which I think is reddish as well. For algae control I plan to add a tailspot which I believe is pushing my bio load.
