Stomatella Snail question

I just watched my Stomtella snail climb up on top of some Halimeda and launch out some eggs, gamets I think they are called? I have seen them launch sperm before and it wasn't that. My question is do they produce both or are they single sexed? Also I need some more who has some or what LFS has them. The one I got I managed to find in a tank at MS.

Thanks

I have some They seem to be reproducing. The poulation is kept in check only that my shrimp eats the ones that make it to the sump/fuge.

How many are you looking for?

Have any frags to trade for them?

Only a few. maybe 5 or 6 of them. I really like them. So far they are the best snails I have had. As far as frags I don't have much. Xenia, Yellow Polyps and some Halimeda. I may have a Green Hairy mushroom as soon as I get off my butt and frag it.

So I don't get the "thread is worthless without pics" banner :)

Releasing. The white streaks on the left. She released them right in front of the return.

You need a male and female for them to reproduce. Most times, spawning is a coordinated event where all of them spawn at the same time.

Cool I wasn't sure if they had the ability to produce both sperm and eggs. I certainly want more. They are the neatest snail. I must be a invert nerd as opposed to a gear guy.

Yeah my tank has clouded up twice since I set it up in December 05. Does no harm to anything, just skims funny for a couple of days and then its over.

Spiffyguy where do you live/work?
5 or 6 is no problem, I cant go giving these for free to everyone, but since you have nothing to give back you can have them. PM to work out the details I suppose.

I have one that's HUGE! It's silver and has his little shell on the back. i often wonder if it's a stomatella cause it's got what looks like goosebumps on it.

Then I have a ton of smaller ones.

Anyone have any extras? I'd pay for them. It would not take more than like 5 or 6 to get a colony started I would think. My one lonely stomatelly has been in need of some friends for quite some time! (I wonder how long these guys live? I'm guessing he's been full grown for at least 6 months)

I was thinking of going and actually meeting some of the local people. If I can get some tank breeding snails while I'm there, that would be great.
