I never start threads on here but this is strange one for me.

Our 7 foot tank has been up for nearly 2 years now. I noticed over a year ago one stomatella snail on the glass of the night time.. I often watch the tank after lights go out.. Lately everything has been really stable and Growing very well.
So Last night i was watching the tank as usual and i Seen 3 of these. Each maybe 5/8 inch long.. The one i knew was there (thou not seen in months) Was well over 1 inch long maybe 1/ 1/2 ..

Could they have just been there all along..and never come out of rock?
Can they Reproduce in a Tank?
I Also have a feeling there could be 1 in my fuge. it might be the big one.

Don't really have answers for you, but I had kind of the same thing happen. My tanks been up and running for over 10 years. There where some stomatella snails during the first few years, but they slowly disappeared. Now one large one has popped up in the last month. No new rock has been added since the first year. So no clue where it came from. It's a good thing, so I'm happy with it.

yes they can reproduce in the tank and sometimes they find holes in the rock and stay in there for quite some time before you ever notice their still there

I believe I read on another thread that they self control their population well based on the algae available. That's why people are happy to get them.

Yea i think they are so very kewl and Fun to watch. I love watching my tank under the very dim blue Light...They Eat like mad I Do know that i had a explosion of snail eggs that hatched a few weeks back. I wonder if they are coming out after some of the 3000000000000000000 plus baby snails..When i first seen the baby snails i thought it was flat worms there were so many. I pulled about ten out and looked with mag glass .

Thanks. I guess they just decided to join in on the glass cleaning fun at night... The more the better.
