Stomatopod Evolution Tree

Does anyone have access to a stomatopod evolution tree? If so could you scan it or reproduce it for us to see?

I'm currently reading Manning's PhD thesis "Stomatopods of the Western Atlantic" and he speaks of squilla and gonodactylus and odontodactylus but never specifically says how they are related. And now there is another genus neogonodactylus. I'm just wondering about when and how the new names came up and what names they replace.

Also can anyone suggest some technical publications of stomatopod stuff? What I can find is what I mentioned above and a bunch of other stuff that was all published in the late 60's.

i think i have his latest paper where he uses molecular analysis to create a phylogeny for the stomatopods. i'll look it up.

I don't have anything with me that I can post. Given that there are currently proposed 7 superfamilies, 17 familes and over 120 genera classifying the 450+ species of living stomatopods, this would have to be a pretty high resolution image.

The best, most up-to-date comprehensive publication of stomatopod taxonomy is Shane Ahyong's dissertation, Revision of the Australian Stomatopod Crustacea. It is published in the "Records of the Australian Museum, Supplement 26, 4 July, 2001". While it lists all known Australian stomatopods, it also undertakes a major revision of all stomatopods. I have already worn out three copies. I think the only way to get it is from the Australian Museum.

Shane has published a few other papers recently, some with Harling, on stomatopod deep taxonomy. One that I use a lot is "The phylogeny of the stomatopod Crustacea" in Australian Journal of Zoology, 2000, 48:607-642.

A paper that is probably easier to find is by Barber and Erdmann that was in the 2000 J. Crustacean Biology. I don't have the exact citation with me.

One of my students and I are currently preparing a paper using mt-DNA to examine the phylogenetic relationship of Gonodactyloidea, Lysiosquilloidea and Squilloidea. Are findings are in contradiction of other recent schemes. We have yet to even consider putting in the other four superfamilies.
