Running a 90 long with basement sump, in line fuge (20G tank) with Kessel grow, tower skimmer w/Iwaki MD-55RLT) , apex classic, pair of radion Xr15, pair of Tunze 6105, BRS duel media running GFO / Carbon
Right now I've a few very large plate coral (Hollywood stunner) torch coral, hammers, mushrooms, and a few other assorted softies. All the fish have other homes except 3 small-ish clowfish.
My tank is acrylic I bought in 1993. I've broke it down a few times, re-polished it and started over. It's overdue for a repolish, scrtch removal, but it's also really old, not so sure about the seams anymore and not to mention the stand needs totally refinished.
I may do a refinish/repolish or start over with a new tank/stand. I think I want to go glass this time. In any event I need a place to store my live goods while I'm doing a rebuild. Then the new tank is going to have to cycle so most likely my temp tank is going to hold the livestock for ~8 weeks.
I have a JBJ 29g Biocube sitting in my basement. It has two pumps, for circ, and I have two more nano type for the main tank. I'll also pick up a hang on skimmer, and use one of the Radion's for light.
I'm going to find a home/give away the large plate coral (keeping a few pieces.) but then I think the 29G will have room for the rest of my lifestock. It will be a tight load, but I think it will manage.
Now my question to the community is how best to do this.
1) Big bang -move 29g water, as much of the live rock as practical and the animals all at the same time into the JBJ 29.
2) Let the JBJ 29 tank establish. Use new water, live rock (from the main tank.) and let the tank establish for 6 week or so, doing the classic tank cycle approach. I can move over thinks slowly over a few weeks.
