Storing NSW question

I have a 44g brute trash can that I make NSW in. Should I put an air stone in there to keep oxygenated or is the water pump good enough?

I just have a powerhead in there that I have on a timer. It cuts on every 3 hours for 10 minutes.

This is more than enough. I run a continuous automatic water Change system so once mixed I don't agitate mine at all and I make enough to last a month. If you are doing bulk water changes you will want to heat and agitate prior to your water change.

I have a similar setup, storing NSW for an auto change setup. Been using a timer to run an old skimmer pump with a diy carbon air filter on the air intake to mix/aerate the water an hour a day.

i don't understand why artificial salt water cant be stored without agitation or aeration. please explain

I run a pump in mine just to agitate the surface so it doesn't get stagnate. Whether I actually have to or not, I'm not sure, but decided to agitate it none the less.

Sounds like a good experiment for someone to try. The general practice makes sense, keep the water moving to prevent it from becoming "stale" if there is such a thing.

I'm curious, perhaps others as well, what the effects might be after 6 months or more with no agitation...

It's been discussed at length in the chemistry forum. No need to agitate, aerate or clean your mixing/storage container.

i store mine in a near air tight 55 gallon drum 3 of them actually .
1 is rodi water where i make new water
1 is rodi water i use for tropical tanks
1 is my mixing tanks each can be mixed with a single pump thru valves and plumbing pumping the water to any of the tanks without lifting a bucket..

I keep 150 gallons at least two 3 weeks of the month and Never agitate the saltwater at all I believe its best to for sure NOT Heat it until right before use if your doing big water changes
