Storm chaser's pix

Not much of a storm chaser, or a photographer, but when I was down at my folks in West Palm Beach, FL this week, I couldn't help myself.

This bad boy came across the sky like a freight train with a dramatic deliniation of the storm front. As it passed overhead, a notable temperature dip and heavy winds came along with it. We watched it from the top floor of the building. We also watched the beach combers, who didn't take the early signs of dark dark skies and news reports to heart. They scattered like mad when their umbrellas took flight and water devils spouted off the tops of waves.

A real spectacle of nature. Truly awesome to behold.

not sure if you can appreciate the wind, with water and sand blasting through the air

That cold air was carving itself a path for sure. Awesome pictures! Can't wait to the Summer to take a few good storm pictures.

When I lived in Lauderdale, I loved watching the fronts come in from the ocean. They came in so low and elevated as they went over land. By the time you took a second sip from that beer you just opened, it was gone.

i was out on lake O this winter. you could see black death roll in. these pics were about 15 minutes apart. there was nasty lightning in the snow clouds. i got a good 110 v shock when i touched the ice with my gloved hand. i'm glad i got the canoe out of the water when i did. spooky stuff

great pics guys!! Im a little less than 2 miles from lake O and when a storm is rolling in i can def feel the cold front and see it coming!!!
On a side no, no canoeing on the lake in the winter for me :-)

Canoeing on Ontario in the winter time?

Isn't that kind of risky? :hmm5:

i'd say stupid:hmm3: my last canoe was lost when i was launched from it, and had to swim to shore. the coast guard won't put a boat in the water. they have a chopper they can send from michigan.
