storms

I hope everyone is doing ok with all the storms that passed thru. we are fine. enjoying sunshine and cool clear water in Texas. fortunately, our house is fine too with only the loss of power since yesterday at 4pm. whole county was out till 3 am and then 1/2 got it back. we are will without power. a battery backup was put in place by a Bart (thanks buddy. I OWE YOU ONE) we may have a generator on the way here today....

tank went without power for about 14 hours and all fish were swimming today. one was a bit lethargic but he is old and is not too concerning. perked back up once a korlalia was kicked on and airstone placed in tank.

of all the times to have a massive power failure when I am not there to put backups in place.....

Here are some stats...all of Huntsville is out of power...Chattanooga that has 170K electric customers, had 100K out yesterday eve, 600 broken poles... Heard it will take months for TVA to get some transmission circuits back online...if temps rise in coming months be prepared for load curtailments troughout the TVA region...hopefully this will only effect commercial customers...not sure.

I need to suck it up and buy a generator...

Talked to family in Chattanooga & Huntsville and it seems to be pretty bad. Thankful we only got some trees and minimal power outages in my area.

All is well here in beautiful Montreal!

All these storms lately have been horrible. Hopefully the bad weather passes soon.

Just a lot of rain at my house outside Knoxville but many areas in Knoxville got hit with golfball and tennis ball sized hail. Lots of trees down from wind as well and about 20% of the people at work w/o a garage had hail damage to their cars. Nothing compared to Ringgold, Tuscaloosa, etc. but it will keep the insurance adjusters busy for awhile.

Power has now been restored at our house. I also had a 5500 watt generator delivered to the house and is now in place ready to be used.

now the bad news. it started up before our friends got there so the outside water didnt get to warm before going inside and I have a water temp of 65*. all fish are swimming and seem ok. we have the lights on as well to help warm the water up. time will tell on the coral.

I feel very fortunate so far and it is so nice having fishy friends to help out.

My thoughts and Prayers to all those Family's affected by this storm system! Now they say another will follow in a couple of day's Hope it's not like this one was!

The weather has definately been whacky - that is for sure! We had lots of limbs and a few trees down - one rather large Cedar across our driveway, blocking our exit (this is when I'm very glad to have the Suburban!). Oddly - didn't loose power - but it did blink on and off MANY times. Phone line was down for several hours though.

correction.. she was reading the PH controller at 6.51 not the temp controller which was in the 70's and is up to par now. according to Josh, everything is in order and all is well.

just rain here here...tornados passed just north of us, but one of my wifes aunts died in alabama cause of tornados....God bless ya all and ya families

so the losses are:

1 SPS that was making a come back. I got it at the swap and nearly lost it. completely devoid of tissue.
1 birdsnest frag is about 50% left with another not throwing polyps out like normal.
1 other sps is missing some tissue at the tips.

have to restart my ecoback. Ill deal with that tomorrow. not looking forward to that.

on the bright side, I now have a generator capable of running the tank systems at 100% along with the fridge and freezer...

It is a gasoline unit. Cummings Onan rated at 5500 Watts. Mother in law works for them so I got it on family discount so I would rather not disclose the price.

i understand...im glad ya got it though cause coming home to a dead tank and lost food in the fridge would suck badly....glad again ya got it....i might go and get one one day too
