Strange Acan?

Was at the LFS today and they had a odd looking acan for $10 so I grabbed it.

Only have my droid to take a photo with, colorwise its silver/blue with light hints of orange. It looks like it has far fewer but thicker feeding tentacles.

Can be seen here (was feeding the tank and noticed it was extending and capturing 2 hrs after being added)

Heads are the same size as my other acans, but all the others have similar feeding tentacles
IE this guy that I have had for about 3 months (eating a mysid)

just seems odd to me.

looks like it is a lobo, top down picture did not come out well but gives an idea of the shape and more accurate color.

Got my new camera delivered today and took a few pictures, still getting the hang of it but it takes MUCH better pictures.

i cant tell but for 10$ you got a great deal. just wait til it grows alittle or you come by it again for id. i have something that looks like an acan that I was told was something different. it kind of looks like that but who knows good luck with the id

after looking at the base it maybe a lobo and not an acan the skeleton looks different

IMO, that is an acan and not a lobo. I have one that is similar with shorter and stubbier feeders than most lords I have. In any case, heck of a coral for $10. Congrats!

Hm, looks like I will need to let it grow out a bit and see what happens with it. It's coloring up a bit more now and eating well so hopefully in a few months it should be clearer what it is.

looks like an acan to me, all my acans look like that when they wanna feed, All my lobos open up their mouths when they want food, Quite a differnce in them.

lol u should look at my acan their tentacles are always out if im feeding them or not and it looks crazzyyy ill take pictures tomorrow so you guy can see

It's a Canon 60d with a 17-40mm f/4L lens, I need to pickup a macro lens for even better photos but 100mm f/2.8L's are costly.

I will see if i can get a good top down shot of it, I don't have a photo box so will see how it turns out.
