strange mantis behavior

I got an N. wennerae on wednesday. He came out to explore for the first time today. he "swam" out of his burrow and landed upside down. he righted himself and shot a little ways away. landed upside down again righted himself at a 45d angle on the back of my tank. he then tryed to burrow under a shell and shot away again. landed upside down againand then sat on his tail. My tank reached the peak of it's second cycle yesterday and is gradualy going down today. he's currently hiding in a shell. is this normal behavior or should I be worried. oh ya, his pleopods were also waving the whole time.

What is that supposed to mean? What exactly are your water parameters? If you put it into a tank that hasn't finished its cycle, it should be pretty obvious what its doing.

the second cycle is a small cycle that occurs after the addition of any invets or fish. it is miniscule. my paraments are 1.0- nitrite, 10 nitrate, ph 8.4, amonia .5, alkalinity 300.
