Ok, strangely I keep seeing this after lights out. *I saw 3 in my smaller tank (so that means they are in both) and I was able to suck one up and get it under a microscope for a few minutes before putting it back in the tank. *Would love any potential ID.

definitely an amphipod. not sure of the species. i've had them before, they were out competed by the usual amphipods that dominate my dt.
where did your live rock come from? that might help in id. and does it make 'tubes'?
Too bad, they are cool but I also have the larger more common amphipods so I guess they will win out eventually.
I was gifted my LR from someone here local who had it in their sump for some time. I think he said he won 50 pounds in a club raffle and just dumped it into his sump. No clue where it originated. It had some visible dusters and bivalves along with a dusting of coralline algae but wasn't obviously covered with life. That said, it sure has seeded my tanks. I have healthy populations of sponges, tunicates, dusters, pods, etc. About the only common thing I am missing are micro brittle stars.
