strange zoa event???

Today I looked into my tank and saw something wierd with my colony of AOG zoas. There was alot of the heads that had a black string looking thing, about 1/2" long, sticking out of the mouth. All the black strings broke off and floated away. None of the heads are closed or shrinking and there are no other signs pointing to something is wrong with them.
Any clue as to what this was? Should I be worried?

Thanks for the replys. I've never seen this happen before and it was a large group at the same time, about 10-15 heads.
