strawberry crab

My BC8 just finished cycling and yesterday I added 4 (tiny) hermits, 4 Astraea snails (need to get a few nassarius), and 1 strawberry hermit crab. I was told that they are similar to emerald crabs and that they are reef safe, but I'm wondering if it wil be ok with a shrimp, goby, and corals.

If it isn't ill just put it in my BC29, probably...but id like to keep it in the smaller tank.

Any ideas or personal experiences???

I have to agree with packersfan about the strawberry hermit. I had a strawberry hermit in a shell larger than a golfball size shell and it destroyed more than it helped.

Strawberry hermit crabs can grow upwards of 8 inches and are known fish eaters.

Great for a species only tank or large agressive tank with large fish.

I have one of those hermits, NOT in my reef , and he is trully a fascinating creature.

Some local stores have strawberry crabs here and they look very cool but I'm afraid to try them.
They are pretty large, about an inch across.

Has anyone else kept them and seen them eat algae?
Any problems with them?

True strawberry crabs are reef safe and should be fine.I have had one in one of my reef tanks for two years no problems. One problem is it seems to be nocturnal.I only observe him when the lights go out and moon lights are on.
