Stream 6000 too much for 75g?

Hi Roger,

It is 48"x18"x20" tall tank. Is stream 6000 too much for it? I have 4" sugar size DSB and afraid the current will blow it away.

Besides, I can't find any stream kit package of stream 6000 with 7091 controller which similar to 6110 kit. Must they be ordered separately?

Seeing as the 6000 can be turned down to suit your needs- as low as 800gph, it can't be too much. I have used one in a 58 gallon aquarium on full power- it really depends on what you are keeping. For SPS it would be ideal running at full power.

I forgot it has a controler? I think on full power it will blow his sand around.

The 6000 is an electronic pump and could be turned down with or without an optional controller, their is a potentiometer on the side of the driver. The 6060 is the comparable non controllable model and even this should be acceptable in a 75.

Hi Roger,

So, is 6000 coming with the speed controller by default? Or it need to purchase separately.

BTW, could you explain a bit more about wave simulation of 7091 controller? How is it programmed? Any fine tuning is available for the wave simulation?

Thanks,

The 6000 is essentially computerized, it cannot run at all without the attached computer and low voltage transformer. Without a controller 7091 or 7094 you can still set the speed between 30% and 100% of full power. The 7091 allows you to set two speeds and a number of seconds between 1.5 and 7 between the two speeds. so the pump can run at 30% power for 7 seconds and then 100% power for 7 seconds, this creates greater turbulece and a wave action. It also includes a food timer which stops the pump for 7minutes. An optional photocell stops the pulsing and puts the pump on the speed two setting until the lights come back on. The controller interfaces with the computer through a 5pin din connection.

Thanks Roger for your prompt and informative anwser.

Do 7091 or 7094 controller require separate power? I can't find any information from web how they are powered.

Thanks again.

6060 in a 30ukg

6060 in a 30ukg

I've recently added a Tunze 6060 into my 30g tank. As you know this is a fixed rate 6000lph pump.

While it does shift a LOT of the sand from the opposite end of the tank I think with careful placement of LR I can reduce it's impact. The thing is to do this you end up creating dead spots (which I wanted the stream to remove in the first place).

In retrospect I wish I'd of gone for the 6010 set as this is controllable upto 7000lph (I've since ordered this to replace the 6060).

In your 75g it shouldn't be too much of an issue. The problem mainly arises when the water "stream" hits the far end glass and loops back.

BTW, the fish absolutely LOVE the current it produces and I've seen marked increases in polyp extension as well.

Go for it, you won't regret it!

I have an 82G 95x55x60 tank and I have recently installed a 6110. I've been reading this forum for a while so I was surprised when it was actually possible to run the stream at full blast. I have sugarsize sand but no sand in the opposite corner from the Stream. I have lots of rocks. The tank really starts to look more fresh now with fast water movement. Today I'm going to try a 6010 as well in the opposite corner. I also have a 7310 it seems to be needed to stir the surface properly and of course add to the turbulent water motion. I prefer the single controller so I can set the periods independently. That way I'll get more caotic motion at least it looks that way:) Some acros are closing up a bit but I suspect they must get used to the new weather. If not I'll have to turn down the power.

If you don't need/want a controller go with the 6060 stream on your 75g. I have one on my 72g running wide open and it's fine.

Stream 6100

Stream 6100

Hi Roger,

The Stream 6100 has a potentiometer on the side of the driver to turn the power down to 30%. My question is, if I attached the Stream (set at 30% power) to a multi-controller 7091 or 7094 does it run the Stream at an even lower power. Or do I have to set the potentiometer on the driver to maximum.

Regards

Kevin

If you turn down the potentiometer the controller wil not work or will work unreliably- it is an either or situation. If you need less flow you should buy a smaller transformer for the 7200/2 or 6000 as a spare part- this 12V transformer will convert the 6100 to a 6000.
