Stream 6060 question

I was just wanting to see if it would harm a Stream 6060 to be used with a timer.

I have a 90 gallon sps tank and I am wanting to add a second stream. I am already using a 6000 with a controller but now that my frags are starting to grow out some I am finding a lot of dead spots. I need more flow.

I would like to put the 6060 on a timer with 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off for 12 hours per day. Would that damage the pump? Oh, and in a perfect world I would just buy another 6000, unfortunately I don't think the wife is going to go for it. :D

The shortest interval you can run a 6060 is one hour on, the off time doesn't matter so much but one hour is required to completely retract the clutch and provide sufficient cooling after start up. A shorter interval can damage the drive mechanism and eventually cause the pump to burn out.

Thanks, I went ahead and ordered another 6010 kit with controller. I guess that should be enough for a 90. :D

Now, how do I convice my wife that it was only $20.
