Stream alarms

Saw the recent thread on stream cleaning and glad I did because one of my 6100's started alarming yesterday. Have got them both out now and the deposits were incredible. What should have been a hole in the center of the drive unit was almost a pin *****. Also the magnet was so encrusted it was hardly moving atall...... had a job getting the bearing out of the impeller well on the other stream but a pick did the job although I think I scratched the impeller well a little - will this cause damage ?

The main problem with scratches is noise and faster build up of calcium but in time minor scratches tend to wear down so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Ok thanks Roger, they are both back in now and there doesnt appear to be a noise increase but time will tell I guess. I will just have to clean it a bit more often. Thanks for the response as always...
