Stream Inline electrical connection

I've just purchased a 6000 and a 6100 stream for my 225 reef tank. I have a tall canopy and would like to minimize additional access holes for equipment/cable passage, ceratinly smaller than the streams or their controllers to pass through. Therefore, I would like to cut the stream's cable at some point and install a watertight in-line electrical connector assembly. I have the electrical expertise to install the connector but wanted to get your comments. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest just opening the driver and unplugging the pump as shown in the manual. I have never seen a splice that didn't cause a problem, their are 5 very small wires inside and every type of coupler I have seen anyone use has either gotten wet, arced and destroyed the pump or tended to come uncoupled with the result being a loss of flow and dead animals.

Thanks for the Quick reply Roger. I didn't recieve a manual with my 6000 and hadn't opened my 6100 yet. I did find the info in the rear of the manual. I actually design and build submersible robots so my first reaction was to take care of the problem myself. (I have plenty of IP68 connectors laying around.) Thanks for your support...can't wait to get my 6000, 6100 and 7095 fired up this weekend!
