streams and wave box

Anyone out there using streams and a box? I just hooked up my wave box and continue the use of the 6000 and 6100 streams. It sure does create quite of current in my 125. Wondering if this is too much current for the structural integrity of the tank?

FYI... Roger has previously stated that the use of the wavebox will cut the life expectancy on the seams of the tank. How ill an effect and how long it will take will depend on the age of the tank, I would guess. I would just keep a close eye on the seams. I normally check them on all my tanks once a day anyways.

As it states in the manual, tank life is reduced by about 10-15% and it should not be used on old or poorly built aquariums.

I would consider Oceanic amongst the best. They usually last 15-20 years but their are many variables. Most maintanence companies will not guarantee a tank that has been moved more than 2-3 times, draining and filling a tank is stressful to the seams as are unlevel stands. Their are also manufacturing variables but I think you definitely have a strong tank.

That makes me feel better. The tank is about 8 months old. In a few years it will be time to upgrade to a larger tank.

Thanks Roger,

Clint

p.s. did you send aquatek any holders?

Don't have them yet, probably tonight they will arrive. FWIW, my first real aquarium was an Oceanic 58, I bought it with the money I made in my first job when I was 14, so it is 16 years old now and still holds water.

i wonder when buying a used tank..., we ask allready, if there has ever been copper ran in the system. now we have to ask if there ever was a wavebox in there...
