Streams for a 120

Hello. I just ordered 2 Tunze 6100's and a multi-controller for my 120 (4x2x2) mixed reef. I know that I can adjust the flow output, but is this too much? Should I have gone with 2 6000's instead? Thanks!

I just picked up 2 6000s and controller tonight for my new 120.

I don't plan on a upgrade anytime soon after that, or else I would have gone with the 6100s and toned the down.

The 6100's will be to much, I would advise changing your order to the 6000's. Anything less than 6ft is just to small, 5ft can work with them turned down but since one of the best features is the pulsing turbulence, running full time at low speed defeats this.

Thanks for your advise. The vendor that I ordered from has a waiting list for both models. There are 3 people waiting for the 6100's, while there are 18 people in line for the 6000's. My decision was based a lot on the amount of time I will be waiting for the order to come thru. However, it would be better to wait longer for the 6000's since they are a better fit for my tank.

I have the same size tank as DJPB and very interested in your products. Would you suggest two 6000's for a 4' tank, wouldn't that be too much flow for a 100-120 gal tank.
Also my tank is acrylic (tenecor bow front) with a top that has two acces holes about 10 x 20", what could I use to mount these pumps on the sides.

Thanks
Rich

Roger,

Do you know when the magnet stream mounts will be available in the US? Thanks...

Rich,

It really depends on inhabitants and how you use the pumps, I would use tide mode in both of you guys tanks and so only one would be on at a time. At IMAC I used two 6000's with the new 7095 program "Interval II" which keeps one pumpo at 30% power while the other pulses, this was on a 75 and it was no problem. Remember the ocean can kill you so the flow in our tanks is normally no where near a proximation of the ocean, even on a calm reef the flow is greater than we normally provide. The magnet holder would be a good choice but certainly it could be done with the standard hardware.

The Magnet holders should be out by the end of July.

Thanks rvitko

The 7095, is that a new controller (and when is it available), and is the mounting hardware include with the pumps or are they extra?

Rich

Mounting hardware for glass tanks is included, including trimmed American tanks but it is more difficult. For Acrylic you need to cut a hole in the acrylic or buy an accessory holder set 3000.26 or attach it to the overflow box.

The 7095 will replace 7094 in October or November mosl likely. It has a new program called Interval II the interval cycles can be set as fast as 1sec vs 1min on the present model and it includes a 29day lunar cycle simulation through an LED light.

Thanks Roger--can't wait for the new controler, can I get the 6000 pumps now and get the controler later or do I need a controler to reduce the speed now. Sorry for all the questions, just want to make the right decision.

Rich

You can control the speed with a potentiometer that is on the side of the driver you just can't make them pulse or set any programs.

I don't know that anyone will have stock but they should all have short lines and it would be best to get on a list.

Roger -
My 6000's just came in, and wow do they generate FLOW! I hooked them up with a 7094 and have them mounted in the tank. Sure will be glad when the magnets are available, b/c my canopy sits on top of the rails, and I'd rather not cut holes in my canopy to make it fit correctly.

I have a placement question for you - Where should I position the streams to provide max flow for my sps? Most of my sps are at the top/right side of tank. Here's a week old pic of my tank, the streams are now located in the same position as the maxijets in the picture..
Thanks for your help.

Slide them back up against the overflow and aim them so they are positioned at the front pane 1/3rd in from the end. Run tide mode with 6hr intervals unless you have little critters that go in the pump- then run pulse mode with with opposite pulse sequences.

One more question and I promise I will leave you alone:D
What are the multicontroller settings for "pulse mode with with opposite pulse sequences"? Thanks
