Stress induced breeding corals

Has anyone attempted to deliberately trigger a spawning event by using heat stressors? I know that doing this has the complications of releasing incomplete gametes. I also know that its never great to stress corals out too far in terms of temp. Any anecdotes?

Thanks

What species are you referring to?

IME. getting them to spawn isn't the problem. Getting them into spawning condition is the hard part. Once they're mature enough, healthy enough, and have the resources to produce gametes, mother nature will take her course.

The species is not really any in particular. The system in which I am thinking about inducing is densely populated with SPS, particularly Acropora sp.

They are all very large colonies (8" across or more) so are mature enough to produce. They do spawn randomly, but I would like to have more accuracy. Unfortunately I don't have the proper programmable lights to replicate lunar cycles.

I have been successful with heat stressing tubastraea sp. But have never tried it with other genera.
