Idiot
So i have a 30 gal tank. Its not a standard 30 gal, it is a bigger footprint than normal. Its 2L x 2W x 1T. Yeah, its pretty shallow. Anyways I was wondering about the longterm health of my fish. I may be overstocked. I have noticed no problems as of yet. In fact i have seen absolutely no aggression between the fish. Here is my stock list
---1 GSM Clown - I know what you are thinking...Giant bully...Aggressive...MEAN BAD CLOWN. quite the opposite has been true. I have had her for about 2 years. She has gold stripes which suggest it is an adult. She has never shown aggression towards any other fish. I hear of clowns biting hands when they are put in the tank. Has never done this to me. Always very nice. Maybe im just lucky...or maybe one day she will become a terror.
---1 Algae Blenny - Swims all around the tank, perching on various rock work and corals. Have had for 2 years also. When i add a new fish he likes to inspect it, gets up close to it for about an hour (usually freaking out the new fish) but never gets aggressive, and after about an hour, acts like its not even there.
---1 Yellow Banded Possum Wrasse - Hides in the rock work during the day light cycle, and comes out during dusk and dawn. Looks fat and healthy. Extremely passive, and have had for about 1 year.
---1 Royal Gramma - New to the tank (1 month). Has a corner in the tank. Shows no aggression towards other fish, but barely leaves its corner/cave. Seems very healthy and not stressed at all.
---1 Golden/Yellow Assessor - Just put into the tank 5 days ago (just done with QT). He is ORA and very small (1 inch or so) This is where it gets weird... he acted normal in QT, no signs of stress or disease. He was/is fat and healthy looking. In QT he hung around the rock work a lot. Since putting him in the 30 gal he doesn't hang out around the rocks so much. He does go to the rock every now and then, but only stays briefly (besides at night) When at the rocks, no aggression is shown towards him. Instead he like to stay in the open area, mid water column, and ONLY SWIMS UPSIDE DOWN. Im not sure i have ever seen him right side up. I would argue against him haveing a swim bladder issue because A. he is tank bred and B. he was fine in QT. Other fish swim by him and dont bother him. Again he goes to the rocks and no one bother him.
Other things to note
Tank set up for a few months (used LR and LS from my old tank too)
About 30 lbs rock in the tank, with lots of caves and hiding spots
10 gal sump with lots of LR and Chaeto
med flow
mixed reef
Water parameters are stable and in good ranges
So my question is.......
Do you think the new assessor is stressed?
Do you think in the future i will have trouble keeping all of these fish in this tank?
Thanks! :hmm1:
