Stressed to healthy time frame?

Anyone have experience with how long after SPS go thru extreme stress ie ammonia before they may polyp back out? I have added a frag two days ago and it has remained polyped but all my previous SPS show no sign of polyps and are still bleached and looking pretty poor, though water conditions are back how they should be for about the last week.

I know it is possible ill still loose them but hoping they comeback to there previous state.

Thoughts, thanks

My friend's tank took about a week to recover for the stuff that didn't bleach, and some corals are still not back 100% after 4-5 weeks now. In particular the purple monti cap bleached stark white and appeared to STN, we thought it was dead but it has made a miraculous comeback. I'd say all but that purple monti are fully recovered now, though.

He made the mistake of not supervising a FW exit treatment...

Thanks for information. Anyone else with experience.

I had a alk issue that affected my GARF purple bonsai that took almost 2 months to have PE after I corrected and stabalized it.

I also have a acropora monticulosa that was doing great the first few months, but then for a month or two I had very little PE and it started to STN in two spots. Parameters were all great and stable, so I figured it was flow. A lot of my other SPS were growing large and blocking currents. I moved the monticulosa a little higher, and upgraded to a MP40. In 2 days I had full PE, and in about 2 weeks the STN started to reverse, and after another 2 weeks its back to looking better than ever.

Based on these two experiences, I would say it can easily take 4-8 weeks for a full recovery.

I agree.

Some acros after a stress event can easily take this long to recover if ever. Others recover right away. You can never tell. Just have to keep your parameters steady and wait it out.
