What is the strongest stony coral you know of? not looking for the no.1 but names of corals that does not easily break.

Any of the mounding corals - like brain or star corals. As they grow they just become a larger chunk of rock.

Any plating or branching coral (montipora/acropora) are, by their nature, more brittle especially when smaller.

does that mean that those montiporas were young? so as they go old they get harded?

:hmm2: err umm.. what

^^^What he (sorta) said^^^

If I can decipher what I think you meant, when small, they will be thinner and therefore more fragile. As they grow, they will and thickness as well as size, so although they won't get any harder, their thickness will make them less likely to break.

An exception to that would be things like Birdsnest corals that tend to grow huge, but remain fine-branched.
