stryker 180G rebuild

So i recently had to tear down my reef due to a house move so i though it would be fun to share the rebuild of my 180g reef. The new home is not as spacious, so I figured I could claim the garage as my fish room knowing what a mess i can make.

Here is a shot of the livestock holding tank I set up in the new reef garage...

now that the snow is gone, u gotta bring the family down my way and enjoy the beach, and while ur there stop by and pick up some (brown) frags ! Gotta love socal. Good to hear from u, glad ur tank is recovering.

Thanks Dan, it is alot of work but it's nice to have an empty tank to work with. Kinda like a new canvas...

display tank dimensions are 60 x 30 x 24"t, sound familiar...

I think I'm going to try to change the look up a bit, although the style will be very similar because I'll be reusing the same large live rock structures. I like the open spaces, arches, overhangs, but that means less room to stack corals . I'm gonna go bare bottom too so that will be different.

The Space Invaders goes through growth spurts, but is generally a slow to medium grower. I dont feed it, but im sure it would help it grow faster if I did.

Heres a shot of the holding tank I setup to keep the livestock while I worked on moving, and setting up the display. This really helped out so I didnt have to rush and throw everything back into the tank.

In hindsight, a larger bin would have been helpful. I ran out of room so I started plumbing together my frag tank and refugium into the mix.

And here is why i ran out of room in the holding bin... My rocks are huge and have corals encrusted onto them that I didn't want to break off...

That's what she said!!! Sorry, I could resist.

These rocks were super heavy too Dan. I was lucky I didn't scratch or damage the glass. My wife was nice enough to lend a hand, and catch all the dripping water. It was a bumpy ride to the new house as she drove while I sat in the back holding the rocks in a 50g container... It was classic.

Thanks Mark, that is why I really admire people with photo skills that can capture the beauty of reef aquariums. I'm gonna have to work on that. For now my point and shoot is all I have. If ur ever in the area, let me know.

I think your idea of slow to medium grower is what most people would call fast and faster. I know cuz I've seen how "slow" your Red WM grows. When I get a chance to visit again, I might have to hit you up on a frag of that Space Invader, along with the PM

The livestock looks awesome sitting there on the concrete and in the crappy holding tub! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the new setup!
