Stubby clowns ?? vs anemone hosting

OK! My stubby clowns currently sleep sideways at the water line at night....

They have been doing this for months now.

I have had a few nems in the tank but for some reason they just wont host?

Any way I can get them to host?

I am having the same problem and its been 4 months now. The only thing that you can do is give them time. It sucks but patience is key

My percs did that for 3 years before I tore down my tank. It seemed like they just stopped swimming when the lights went out. Always fine during the day. I didn't have anemones in the tank.

If you have tank-raised clowns maybe they will never see nems in their life so it could take months or even years to host them.

Contrary to popular belief, clowns being hosted by anemones -- or anything else for that matter -- is not a learned trait. Therefore, it doesn't matter if it's a tank raised clown versus a wild clown.

If you have a natural host (BTA for a maroon clown, for example) you'd be shocked to see how quickly the clown will be attracted to the nem. My Rod's Onyx clowns couldn't wait to play with the magnifica I added. They were in it before I finished getting it into the tank. The same thing happened when I added a gigantea.

The challenge is getting a clown to be attracted to a non-natural symbiont. And again, contrary to popular belief, there's no sure-fire way to get hosting to occur.
