Mario, I think this is what you are looking for:

Calcium Chloride: I think HD pool department has this, if not, then try a pool and spa supply store
Baking soda: grocery store
Epsom salts: grocery store

I used it for about 6 months in a 250g system. No problems.
I bought the Dow Flake online in a 50# bag. That drove the cost up because of the shipping, but still cheap. All calcium chloride may not have the same purity/impurities so I'd stick with those that Randy tested.

For calcium chloride, good luck finding a supplier in California. I mean, it's out there...namely, produced by Hills Brothers Chemical Company, and are available at local concrete suppliers. Although, I agree with Steve-gtrestoration, we should stick with what Randy tested (i.e. DowFlake).

I couldn't find any suppliers that sold DowFlake using the internet and the yellow pages. Perhaps call your local Ace Hardware to see if they can special order it for you. By the way, this product is typically used for ice melt. (Hence, its availability at Home Depots east and midwest.)

I bit the bullet and just ordered online, awaiting delivery in the next few days. Shipping was hefty, but it's worth it for me. I purchased it from MainStreetSeedAndSupply.com. I actually ordered Peladow, which is a more concentrated form of calcium chloride from Dow and are actually small pellets identical to Kent's Turbo Calcium. Randy also suspects this and is anhydrous calcium chloride, a dehydrated version of DowFlake (i.e. 2 cups Peladow vs. 2-1/2 cups DowFlake per gallon of RO/DI).

What happened to the Ca reactor you had running? Did you take it offline? I've been in a long debate if I should just purchase a reactor, but I'd be looking at $5-600 and couldn't justify the cost for my little 29G, hehe.

Mchava - Mario, you can also purchase larger, "single-bagged" supply of baking soda (Arm&Hammer) at Costco. I've only seen the smaller "boxed" baking soda at grocery markets. (There are also 50lb bags, but not sure where to purchase those.)

HeyGunther the Ca reactor is on my 60gallon all sps tanks i wanted this for my smaller tank which i will be setting up in my living room. Since I dont want to have alot of plugs hocked up i wanted to keep it verry simple on this one. So I was planning on getting a dossing pump for them. I will check and see if I can find it some where i may just have to order it like you did.
