Submerged Pump and Temp. Difference

Gonna Need A Bigger Tank
Trying to get an idea about what to do next...I've finally got the 120 up and running and after a bout with the psycho-foaming ER skimmer, I'm moving on to the next issue: tank temp. It's been consistent from 82 (at night w/ no lights) to 84 w/ lights on - I'm using a 6-lamp T-5 Solar Flare about 1 - 2 " off of the water surface.

I've got a submerged skimmer AND a submerged return pump: an Eheim 1260. Looking for feedback:
1. How many degrees might removing the return pump lower the tank temp. ?
2. What's the correct way to plumb and prime the return pump once it's external?
Thanks, I feel like I'm almost there.

Moving the Ehiem to external wouldn't make any noticeable difference. Its a water cooled pump. I think the lighting is your issue. How hard would it be to raise it up a couple of inches?

BTW, did the foaming from the 2 part epoxy finally subside?

Yes, thanks SJM...now I'm getting the nice green crud I was expecting :)
I appreciate your feedback (yesterday too) about the pump...I don't want to hassle w/ making it external if it really won't make that much of a difference...I'll try raising the lights some...I may just have to go the chiller route - ugghh (and ka-ching)!!!!

I would suggest turning down your heater to 78-79, that way your temp stays from 78-80. 84 is gettting close to frying your fish. Just my thoughts.
